Serial Port - CF-H2

Panasonic Toughbook CF-H2 Serial Port

Sometimes called a D sub 9 pin connector, all Panasonic Toughbook CF-H2’s come with a serial port installed.

A serial port is an interface that allows for communication between two digital systems that transmits data one bit at a time. Serial ports are considered to be one of the most basic communications devices on a computer and were once a very common component on most computers but the technology is now more than two decades old and has been replaced by much faster communication ports like USB, Firewire, Ethernet, and wireless connections.

Common uses for serial ports were modems, networking, printers and a mouse.

Despite the age of this technology, many of the industries that Toughbooks cater to still use serial port connections and because of that virtually all Panasonic Toughbooks come equipped with a serial port or give you the option of having a serial port installed.
