The Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 has a variety of expansion slots that provide additional features through the use of expansion cards. PC Card Type II
PC expansion cards are also sometimes referred to as PCMCIA cards and support a variety of devices. Common devices include wireless LAN cards, micro drives, ethernet cards, modems, FireWire ports, and mobile broadband cards.
SD Card (SDXC)
Secure Digital Xtended Capacity (SDXC) cards are flash memory cards that have the highest memory capacity. Read/Write speeds are based on the Class of the card but can run as high as 150MB/s while older SD cards ran at about 10MBs. These cards usually have a memory capacity of 32GB or larger. Common devices that use SDXC cards are car navigation systems, cellular phones, e-books, PDAs, smartphones, digital cameras, music players, digital video camcorders, personal computers, and laptops.
SD Card (SDHC)
Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) cards usually have a memory capacity of 2GB to 32GB. Common devices that use SDHC cards are car navigation systems, cellular phones, e-books, PDAs, smartphones, digital cameras, music players, digital video camcorders, personal computers, and laptops.
ExpressCard/54
The ExpressCard/54 is similar to the PC Card Type II / PCMCIA slot. They share similar widths but have different types of connectors. Common devices that use the ExpressCard slot are mobile broadband cards, FireWire ports, USB ports, Ethernet Ports, SATA drives, solid state drives, graphics cards, wireless cards, TV tuners, sound cards, and Common Access Card (CAC) readers.
